Position Summary
The AVI Architect is responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of VMware Avi Load Balancing solutions to support enterprise-level customer and business outcomes. This role focuses on hands-on architecture, including translating application, network, and infrastructure requirements into scalable load balancing and application delivery designs and supporting delivery teams through implementation.
This position works closely with clients, consultants, application teams, network teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure solutions are aligned to best practices across load balancing, application delivery, networking, security, and automation. The architect regularly uses VMware Avi Load Balancer and related VMware platforms, including VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, NSX, and vDefend, and is expected to operate independently, communicate clearly, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced consulting environment. AVI Architect is expected to communicate clearly, manage work independently, and contribute to high-quality outcomes.

AVI Architect is expected to communicate clearly, manage work independently, and contribute to high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of VMware Avi Load Balancer solutions, including Controllers, Service Engines, Virtual Services, Pools, Health Monitors, and related application delivery components.
- Collaborate with client stakeholders to assess application, business, network, and technical requirements, translating them into scalable Avi load balancing architectures.
- Design and implement Avi solutions across enterprise data centers, private cloud, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), vSphere, and NSX environments.
- Develop high-level design documentation and provide architectural oversight throughout delivery.
- Provide expert-level guidance on application delivery, load balancing, traffic management, high availability, scalability, performance optimization, and operational best practices.
- Design and support advanced Avi capabilities including GSLB, DNS services, SSL/TLS termination, application health monitoring, traffic policies, analytics, and application visibility.
- Integrate Avi Load Balancer with VMware NSX and other network and security services to support enterprise application architectures.
- Provide technical leadership for Avi migrations, upgrades, platform modernization, and integration initiatives.
- Troubleshoot complex load balancing, application delivery, networking, and performance issues and provide architectural recommendations.
- Operate under the client’s brand and processes, delivering seamless, white-labeled consulting services.
- Maintain strong communication and relationships with client teams.
Required Qualifications
- Active or recent VMware certification in one or more of the following: VCP-VCF, VCP-NV, VCP-DCV, or related VMware certification track.
- Proven experience architecting and delivering VMware Avi Load Balancer / Advanced Load Balancing environments at enterprise scale.
- Deep understanding of application delivery, load balancing, networking, DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and high-availability architecture principles.
- Strong experience designing Avi Virtual Services, Pools, Service Engines, Health Monitors, and application traffic policies.
- Experience integrating Avi with VMware vSphere, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
- Strong consulting and client-facing communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and lead complex technical initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced VMware certifications or VMware Advanced Load Balancing / Avi credentials.
- Experience with VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF), VMware NSX, vSphere, and vDefend.

- Avi DNS
- Avi Analytics and application visibility
- SSL/TLS termination and certificate management
- Application delivery and traffic management
- VMware NSX integration
- Kubernetes and container-based application delivery
- Infrastructure automation and APIs
- Terraform, Ansible, or similar automation technologies
- VCF Automation & Operations
- Experience supporting enterprise application migrations to VMware Avi.
- Agile methodology experience or certification.
- Additional industry certifications (Cisco, F5, Microsoft, AWS, etc.).
Required Skills
- Customer Consulting and Advisory: Ability to lead customer discussions, gather application and technical requirements, and translate them into Avi architecture decisions.
- Avi Solution Design: Ability to design scalable and highly available VMware Avi Load Balancer solutions for enterprise applications.
- Load Balancing and Application Delivery Expertise: Ability to design and support environments using Virtual Services, Pools, Service Engines, Health Monitors, traffic policies, and application delivery services.
- Networking Expertise: Strong understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, routing, VLANs, NAT, SSL/TLS, and network integration concepts.
- VMware Integration: Ability to design and support Avi environments integrated with VMware vSphere, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation.
- Performance and Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose application delivery, load balancing, networking, and performance issues and adjust designs during implementation.
- Automation and Integration: Ability to leverage APIs and automation tools to support repeatable Avi deployments and operational processes.
- Documentation and Communication: Ability to produce clear design artifacts and communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
